Has Vodafone’s ambitious plan given him the jitters?

If that wasn’t enough, RCom broke another barrier in the low cost segment by launching the FM Radio Classic music phones at just Rs.1,888 on June 4, 2006. Though aggressively priced, the company says that their rich look and feel factor will lure in a lot of first time buyers. The company has also kick-started the world’s largest and fastest rural infrastructural rollout. The plan is to provide telecom coverage to 234,000 villages by setting up 8,982 sites in the country’s remotest regions.

According to Anil Ambani, the vision is to realise Dhirubhai’s dream “of a world without borders and manmade limits” giving every Indian a chance to communicate and connect, compete and collaborate. And if RCom manages to thwart Vodafone’s low cost gambit in the process, guess it will all be in a day’s work!
